10 days and counting…

Stylin’ shades

Sometimes I don’t know what to think of this little girl!  She is so unlike me in so many ways and yet we are so very similar at the same time.  She is a total goofball when she’s in her comfort zone and so outgoing and uninhibited when she feels safe.  I LOVE my little Charlee for the ways she teaches me to be carefree.  I even sing songs with hand motions nowadays…which, if you really know me, you know that this is something I DO NOT do!!!  My little Charlee is helping me to step outside myself sometimes and find joy in the little things like blowing bubbles, wearing beads, and singing silly songs.  Thank you, Charlee Bean.  I love you so much!

Andee Noelle

Beginning on the evening of April 17th, I began having contractions.  The problem was that I didn’t really think I was having contractions, or at least not real ones.  I had convinced myself that they were just Braxton Hicks contractions because I wasn’t scheduled to have a baby until April 21st at 9:00am.

Well, April 17th turned into April 18th and the contractions were getting stronger and closer together.  Then April 18th turned into April 19th and I was getting pretty uncomfortable.  Sally was already here awaiting the arrival of her next grandchild and thanks to her discerning and perceptive mind I was encouraged to call the doctor at about 7:00pm on the evening of Monday, April 19th.  Praise the Lord Sally was here visiting because had she not been, I would not have called!  The nurse I spoke with told me to go to the hospital to be monitored.

Just to give you some insight into my ridiculousness, I kept thinking to myself, “But I still have a day left to get ready and pack and get all things in order before the baby comes, so I’m sure they’ll send me home once we get to the hospital.”  Well, not so much!  After monitoring me for about 10 minutes, they sent me to triage and essentially began prepping me for surgery after calling the on-call doctor and having her come back to the hospital.  There were seriously a dozen people surrounding me at one point…one to take blood, one having me sign papers, one hooking up my IV, one explaining the anesthesia process, etc.

So, by 9:oopm I was laying on the table in the OR ready to have this baby!  And so, on April 19th, 2010 at 9:33pm Andee Noelle made her grand entrance into this world at 7 pounds, 9 ounces and 20 inches long.

Yay!  We all made it!

First kiss from her Mama…
