So, the other night I practically fell out of my chair at the dinner table…no joke! I had tears streaming down my face and couldn’t control my laughter…all thanks to my favorite 2 year old.
Earlier in the afternoon, Charlee and I had walked to the mail box together. Just past the mailboxes, she noticed something on the ground and asked, “What’s that?” I quickly realized she had discovered a pile of dog poop. So, I told her it was “puppy poop.” Now, here I must provide a few details as to what this puppy poop looked like. Please forgive me, but it’s necessary so that the rest of the story makes sense. This poop was clearly from a small dog who must be related to a rabbit!
This is where the story gets good… Later that night, I cooked dinner (yes, yes…I cooked!). Dinner looked something like this…
We sat down to eat and I gave Charlee a little hoping she’d try it. Food of all kinds are always under close scrutiny by this little toddler of ours so she was examining it just like she does EVERYTHING! She suddenly declares, “Poop.” Then, a few seconds later, “Puppy.” I’m a little slow sometimes so it took me a few seconds to piece this together and figure out what she was talking about. That’s when I realized she was declaring to me that I had served her “puppy poop” for dinner! This little chicken dinner of ours contained black beans, something she’s obviously not real familiar with and having seen small pellet-like poops just an hour before, she decided the two looked awfully similar. I about died!!! Truly amazing the mind of a toddler. Needless to say, I’m not so sure she’ll ever eat black beans!
Oh, the joys of living life with Miss Charlee! =)
